So this is where we are at with Zeke. The mass was confirmed with the scope and it is a tumor. The easiest way for us to describe this is that it actually is almost like an extra flap growing off the top of the Pyloric sphincter. When the hanging mass gets pushed in and blocks the opening, this is what causes Zeke to throw up. The blood in his vomit was from this mass as it does tend to bleed. Especially seen when the biopsy was done.

Dr. Brummer was able to get some samples of the tissue and hopefully the sample will identify what the tumor is or at least identify some of the growth characteristics.

If it is something that could be treated with medicine, then that is the route they will go. If not, they will hopefully be able to tell if it is an aggressive or slow growing tumor. By Tuesday they anticipate to be able to give some sort of percentage as to a successful outcome should surgery be the only option.

If anything, the doctors are encouraged as to what they have found:
  · The growth is in a spot where hopefully surgery will not affect the pyloric and the other organs in the area (Bile ducts and pancreas).
  · That Thursday, after seeing the ultrasound, the doctors felt it really did not look like there was a possible good outcome for Zeke. Although they did not tell us that then.
  · It does not appear to have spread to other parts of the body. That his lungs and lymph nodes appear unaffected.
  · That Dr Fingeroth is among the minority of surgeons who would be willing and could successfully complete a surgery like this.
  · The tumor does not appear to have ingrained itself deeply into his tissue - in fact it is a gentle tumor - was how it was described. It appears pliable and could be moved around with the end of the scope.
  · And had the tumor not been where it was, we most likely would not have known Zeke had a tumor in his stomach until it was too late.

So I guess we need to be thankful. That as this unfolds, we can see God is doing something special. For all of us, animal or human, eventually our time will come. That occasionally, our body, so intelligently designed, will let us know when something is wrong.

And in this case for Zeke, the initial diagnosis now a few weeks back, actually is turning out to be a blessing. That had the tumor been in such a spot that surgery could have been done by the Dr Bosley out in Hilton, most likely it would have been too late for Zeke as it would have already spread to his other organs.
